My First SpecialFX

Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 17:11

We're working very, very hard on our EXTV project (Experimental Interactive Television). Me, Laura (Palosaari), Matthieu (Savary), Mark (Lwoff) have been shooting in the LUMEN TV studios last week and this week we started the post production. Still a huge pile of work to do, but we are progressing. And the results so far have been very satisfying.

This is a part of the opening sequence of our TV show that I made during the last days. The floor and the spotlight animation is done in 3DSMAX. The cage is bought in some shop here in Helsinki and shot in our 'mini-studio', against bluescreen and edited in Photoshop. The black 'whoosh' is drawn frame by frame in Photoshop on a tablet, as well as the swirls around our actor. We shot our actor against bluescreen and the blue is keyed out using Keylight. The whole thing is composited in Adobe AfterEffects.

We hired a professional visual theater performance artist, Pierre Séraphin, to do the acting. He was really, really great. More to come, stay tuned.
